DDT 1 - Varsity Vandals 5
DDT worked hard against a very experienced and capable team on Thursday night but only managed to score once. We were driving well but support wasn't always there nearer the try line in order for people to finish off and score.
The game was fast paced throughout and the Vandals won by doing the basics very well. (There was a bit of unnecessary psychological banter coming from the guy in the yellow socks which didn't help either!!)
There were a missed opportunities throughout but our saving grace came during the last few minutes with a quick handed try by Beaver supported by
DDT came away from the game learning a lot about needing to stay calm under pressure and needing to support each other better in the drives.
Overall, a good team effort that should have been rewarded with a couple more tries- we all worked really hard. Well done to Beaver for his try at the end- man of the match goes to him.
Positive frame of mind for the next game- lets make it a win.
Cheers guys :)

This will go down as an opportunity lost for the Durkas, with a last minute try for L&G tying the game. With a few players missing, the guys from the DDT team filled in the gaps.
Beaver tried to nail down the man of the match award with two early tries, one more or less from the start. With Jake diving in for a well taken effort, we were well in control. L&G managed to nick a try though to make the half time score 3-1.
The second half was shockingly frustrating, with the Durkas camped on the L&G line for most of the half. (I think attacking the 20 needs a bit more work Mogsy) Heath and Beaver came very close to scoring. Unfortunately a try at each end of the half tied the game.
Man of the Match: Two tries means this has to go to Beaver.

A tough game against a well prepared, perhaps overly serious opposition to kick off the season.
The first half kicked off with Durkamix having to defend. Despite the efforts of the team, the Malarkeys managed to sneak a couple of tries. This didn't deter our enthusiasm for goal, Durkamix attacked back with some battle axing drives with timed perfection, the speedy feet of Welch managed to slip down the wing for a try - well, that said, had he been playing on pitch 3, it would have been a try!!
Second half kicked off with a great start for Durkamix, a plant in the middle of the park, a quick scoop by Jason (of the Kiwi variety) with a timed offload to young Fauz saw him dive over the line to bring some hope back to Durkamix. Some tough defending followed and despite the diving efforts of an injured Mogsy, the Malarkeys dived over the line for a further try making the final score 4 - 1, to the well prepared, overly serious opposition.
Man of the match - Jay (the non kiwi variety) for his continued enthusiasm throughout the match
'D' of day (and hat wearer for next week) - I think you can probably guess!
